Associate Faculty : David Slifka
Dave Slifka is a San Diego native who has been attracted to art and design since his 4th grade class decorated local supermarket windows at Christmastime. After receiving a BA in Communication from UC San Diego, he began taking graphic design classes through the San Diego Community College system and immersed himself in the still-nascent field of web design. Now fourteen years and many hours of dedication later, Dave has established a robust skill-set and career in design. He has made valuable contributions at advertising agencies (E Factor Media and Red Door Interactive), and assumed leading in-house creative roles at Sempra Energy and Miva Merchant. Regardless of the position, Dave's goal is always to make meaningful connections with his audience.
After receiving an MA in Communication from San Diego State University in 2012, Dave began teaching and enjoys working with motivated and bright students. In addition to teaching web design, he is an instructor of Oral Communication and Interpersonal Communication. When not teaching, he can be found riding his road bike, reading, catching a movie, watching football, or spending time with his nephew.
