About my Animals

I Have a Lot of Animals

I have several types of animals. I have one dog, one inside cat, one outside cat, one tortoise, two red sliders, plus a bunch of goldfish. I will tell you more about my pets shortly.

My Dog - Darby

I have one dog, like I said above. We used to have two, but one passed away not too long ago. Darby still misses her. But also kind of enjoys being an only dog. We had a roommate for a while who got a dog. That dog, was a nice dog, but she was young and very busy. Plus she chewed up everything including all of Darby's toys. Yikes!

Darby is a medium sized dog. Black with a little bit of white on her chest. Short hair. Snores when sleeping. Which is what she is doing right now. Laying under my desk, snoring away. She is my dog, so she follows me around.

The Cats

I have two cats. Peaches is an orange kitty and lives inside the house. She also likes to go outside for adventures. We have had her almost a year now. She belonged to a friend of a friend that had to move and could not take her along when she moved to Hawaii. When we got Peaches we had another inside kitty named Lily that was much older. They didn't get along great, but tolerated each other.

Kitty Bumpus is a feral cat that someone dropped off in our neighborhood maybe 8-10 years ago. At first he would not let us get near him, but after my son started feeding him, he started bumping us, telling us thanks for food. Now he has become pretty friendly and we can scratch him and pet him and feed him lots of food. He is also quite the hunter, which is great since there are rabbits, squirrels and gophers all over here.

Mrs. Fuggles the Tortoise

My neighbor had a large tortoise walk in their yard and called me up and asked if I wanted it. I went and checked it out and thought, holy cow that is a big turtle. But we took the wheelbarrow down the street and brought her home. She is an African Sulcata Tortoise. She could live to be over 100 years old. When we got her, she was maybe 3-5 years old. We've had her for over 10 years now. She has gotten even bigger -- weighing in at over 55lbs. We put her into one of the fenced areas we had around a shadehouse. I keep making the fence & yard bigger so she has plenty of room to cruise around in. She has dug a big underground hideaway in one spot to keep cool and we build her a tortoise house to keep warm in wintertime.

The Red Sliders and Goldfish

The roommate I mentioned earlier came with a red slider named Skeeter. Skeeter had lived in an aquarium for many years. He needed more room. We had a pond that we had stopped using, so we cleaned it up, added two smaller water areas that poured into each other, fenced it all off and put Skeeter there. Someone gave us another red slider to keep Skeeter company. I named her Tilly. I started reading about red sliders and discovered Skeeter was actually a she turtle. The interesting thing about putting a turtle in a bigger area is that they grow more. So Skeeter and Tilly have grown bigger. They swim around the pond, crawl out and sun themselves on the rocks by the pond and occasionally walk all along the edge of the fence trying to escape.

To keep them company I get some goldfish once in a while. You know -- the 3 for a dollar fish. They grow, then something comes and eats most of them. Usually a blue heron or a raccoon. Then I get some more. Right now I have one large fish left, one medium fish and 10 small ones. It is fun to see the turtles and fish swim around together. Some day I want to make them a bigger pond but for now they are happy in their little pond.

Below this I have a DIV tag which is a grouping element.

I used the some of the same content as I had above because it is easy and I can be lazy when it comes to typing. I also used the align attribute with the value of "right" so most of the content went that way >>>

This is a sentence and it is in a line. I added some br tags under it to give it more space.

Here is another sentence in a paragraph. I added one br tag so the second line would go right under the first one.
