Jill Malone is an educator, artist, and graphic designer who specializes in digital imaging, layout and design, and digital publishing. A graduate of Rutgers University, she double-majored in Business Administration and Studio Art. She went on to attain her Masters Degree in Information Systems from West Coast University in Los Angeles and a second graduate degree in Education from the University of California at Irvine. In addition to her academic experience, Jill has worked as an applications programmer and she operates a small consulting business, Graphics 101, for which she designs publications for local companies and statewide political organizations. She is a member of AIGA.
Jill joined the faculty at MiraCosta College in 1992 where she developed the computer graphics program. In 2008 that program merged with the IMT discipline to become the Media Arts and Technologies Department. Jill has written the curriculum for the digital imaging and digital publishing courses and continues to oversee the quality of their instruction. She enjoys and appreciates the creative, technological experience that comes from working in an artistic, technically-infused discipline that requires vital input from both sides of the brain.
Jill values connecting people to the world of digital imaging and design. In her 20 years as an educator, she continually emphasizes her students and their work, much of which is routinely featured in art displays on campus. Her students have won at the local, state, and national levels for their digital imaging compositions and literary magazine publications. She is also involved in collaboration with local businesses, and several of her students have been placed in graphic design positions in San Diego.
When she is not working, Jill and her husband spend time traveling, backpacking, bicycling, and enjoying the outdoors. After graduating from Rutgers, Jill bicycled across the North American continent. She enjoys hiking and has experience in the Himalayas, the Alps, the Andes, and the Sierras. She also loves to read, paint, draw, and cook. Jill, her pampered cats, and her neglected husband live in Cardiff.
